Road trip continues at Holy Cross Saturday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Mountain Hawks passed their first of three-consecutive road tests Wednesday night, but it’s already time to move on, as they square off with Holy Cross at the Hart Center on Saturday at 1 p.m. Lehigh moved into sole possession of first place in the Patriot League standings after knocking off Bucknell Wednesday to improve to 5-1 in league play. The Mountain Hawks have struggled against the Crusaders in the all-time series. Lehigh has only won six of the 43 previous meetings, and has dropped the last four to Holy Cross. The Mountain Hawks have had the most success against the Crusaders in the past eight seasons, earning five of the six all-time wins since 2002. Lehigh and Holy Cross last met in the Patriot League Tournament, where the Crusaders ended the Mountain Hawks’ season with a heart-pounding 46-44 win at
Briana McFadden scored 18 points as Holy Cross rolled to a 72-52 win over Colgate in
Lehigh went on a blistering 25-3 run to close out the final eight minutes of the half, putting the game away in a 66-53 win at Bucknell. The Bison made a second-half run but could never seriously close the gap.
Lehigh put together a 17-1 run where Bucknell did not make a field goal for nearly seven minutes. After Joyce Novacek stemmed the run, the Mountain Hawks scored the next eight, including an Erica Prosser runner with two seconds left in the half.
Tricia Smith scored a season-high 17 points for the Brown and White. She also went 3-for-4 from behind the 3-point line after making just five triples all season before the Bucknell game.
