BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Mountain Hawks have won 11 games already this season, but none of that matters as they embark on the most important part of the schedule: Patriot League play. The Eagles come into the game with a 10-5 record over the non-league portion of their schedule, and they are riding a hot streak, winning six of their last eight games. Three American players are averaging double figures in scoring this season, and the Eagles are shooting 43.7 percent from the field as a team. American finished atop the Patriot League in the regular season last year, with an 11-3 record in league play.
Lehigh and American have met 20 times, with Lehigh trailing 7-13. The Eagles joined the Patriot League in 2001-02, and since then, the two schools have met 14 times on the hardwood. Lehigh also trails the Patriot League series history 6-8. The squads have split the season series in each of the last five seasons, and the road team has won each of the last six meetings. The longest winning streak by either team since the Eagles joined the Patriot League is three games, when American went on a brief run from 2002-03.
