Men picked third, women fifth in PL preseason poll

On the men’s side, defending champion Army earned the top spot in the poll with 97 points and received 13 first place votes. Navy was picked to finish second with 86 points and received three first place votes. Just three points behind, American was selected to finish fourth as the Eagles earned 60 points.
On the women’s side, defending champion Bucknell picked up 13 first place votes and 97 overall points to earn the top spot in the poll. Navy followed with two first place votes and 80 points. Army and Lafayette were selected to finish third and fourth, respectively, with the Black Knights garnering 78 points and the Leopards earning 60. Following Lehigh and Colgate are American (31 points) in seventh and Holy Cross in eighth with 16 points.
At last year’s championship meet, Lehigh’s men’s team earned 67 points, scoring points in 11 events. The Mountain Hawk women scored 32 point at the championship meet, scoring in ten events and having one league champion—Katherine Hessler ’06.
The 2006-07 campaign will get underway with the Lehigh Season Opener meet at Rauch Field House. Field events are slated to begin at 6:00 pm, while the running events will start at 6:30.
