Lehigh competes at Navy Day Regatta

Racing began around 11:30 AM with the collegiate fours race. The Lehigh Women finished in a strong 4th place finish out of 17 schools with a time of 17:48, 42 seconds off first place
Following the collegiate fours, Lehigh filled three 8’s in the Novice Men’s race, and two 8’s in the Novice Women’s race. The Novice women surprised the field with a second place finish to the
Collegiate Racing resumed in the late afternoon with the Men and Women’s Varsity 8 races. The Men were first to race, and with a quick start gained ground on the field. Unfortunately, midway through the race, an equipment problem at the 3-seat forced the 8 to row by 6 men for a few strokes to adjust. The 8 recovered, finishing with a time of 13:58, but only managed an 11th place finish out of 18; The Naval Academy won the Men’s Collegiate 8 with a time of 13:08.
The Women’s 8’s followed the men, and once again, the Women proved themselves against the strong field, finishing with a time of 15:40, good for sixth place out of 14 schools; The University of Pennsylvania won the Women’s Collegiate 8 with a time of 14:55.
