Lehigh hands out season ending awards

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh recently handed out its end of the year team awards, as seven Mountain Hawk student-athletes were honored for their hard work over the past season. The highest honor, the Scholar Athlete Award, went to Li-Ping Chew on the women’s side and Phil Bresnahan for the men. Chew is a pre-dental major who boasts a 3.79 grade point average, while Bresnahan has earned a 3.93 GPA as a chemical engineering major. The Scholar-Athlete award goes to the student-athlete who in the eyes of his/her teammates exemplifies the ideal of the scholar-athlete.

The Athlete of the Year award is presented to the team member who makes the most outstanding athletic contribution to the accomplishments of the team. Christine Porcaro was the women’s winner, while Matthew Galuska was honored on the men’s side.

The Coaches Award is presented to the individual who made significant contributions to the well being of the team in terms of attitude, improvement, or special leadership. For the Lehigh women, Sara Brams-Miller captured this honor, and Michael Flanagan was the winner.

David Highhill was also honored as the coxswain of the year for both genders.
