BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh returns to action on Friday, May 8 when the Mountain Hawks travel south to Philadelphia to compete in one of the country’s largest regattas, the Dad Vail Regatta. The Dad Vail is the largest collegiate regatta in the United States, with over 100 colleges and Universities from the U.S. and Canada competing. Thousands of student-athletes visit the city of Brotherly Love during the second weekend of May.
Lehigh will look to equal the success it had at last year’s Dad Vail when the men’s varsity 8 crew competed in the Grand Final for the first time in the program’s history. The Mountain Hawks posted back-to-back second place finishes in their opening races before placing sixth versus a tough field of competitors in the Grand Final. The women’s lightweight eight crew also advanced to the Grand Final after racing to a top-three finish in its opening heat.
Lehigh’s women were last in action on April 26 when they competed at the 2009 Patriot League Championship, while the entire Lehigh team was last on the water on April 18 when the Mountain Hawks successfully defended their River Cup title.
