Lehigh heads to New Jersey for PL Championships

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh is set to compete at the 2009 Patriot League Rowing Championships, set for Sunday, April 26 on the Cooper River in New Jersey. The Mountain Hawks will send three crews to the Garden State this weekend, including the women’s varsity 8, second varsity 8 and varsity 4. Lehigh will face a strong field of competitors that includes Bucknell, Navy, Colgate and Holy Cross. The first race on Sunday is set for 8:00 AM, with the next two scheduled for 8:10 and 8:20.
Lehigh hosted the annual River Cup last weekend on the Lehigh River in Allentown and the Mountain Hawks were able to retain their hold of the River Cup. Lehigh also won the inaugural Neuweiler Plate which pits Lehigh against archrival Lafayette as well as in-state foes Penn State and Franklin & Marshall.
Following Sunday’s races, Lehigh will have two weeks off before getting back on the water for the Dad Vail Regatta, one of the nation’s largest regattas, held in Philadelphia beginning on May 8.
