No. 4 Towson defeats Mountain Hawks

Towson, MD – Lehigh fought hard, but was unable to keep up with fourth ranked Towson, as the Tigers defeated the Mountain Hawks 23-7 at Minnegan Stadium on Saturday. The Tigers are off to a 2-0 start, while the setback evens Lehigh’s record at 1-1.

The Tigers jumped out early scoring nine first quarter goals to Lehigh’s two, as Towson eventually built a 14-4 lead at halftime. Towson was led by senior Brad Reppert, who scored a career best six times, while adding three assists on the afternoon. The Mountain Hawks were paced by freshman Andrew Lucas, who scored three of Lehigh’s first half goals, including an extra-man score.

Towson out-shot the overmatched Lehigh squad by a 61-20 margin on the afternoon. The Mountain Hawks used a trio of goalies on the afternoon, and they collected a combined 13 saves.

"We’re a young team," said Lehigh head coach Chris Wakely. "We’re going to grow every day, because we work so hard every game. We were a little better today than we were last week, and we’re going to be better [next Sunday] than we were today."

Lehigh returns home to the Ulrich Sports Complex to host Butler on Sunday, March 10. Action gets underway at 1:00.
