Mountain Hawks tabbed fifth in preseason poll

Army claimed the top spot in the poll, racking up 46 points and seven first place votes. Lafayette and Navy were both selected to finish second, earning 34 points each. The Leopards also garnered two first place votes, while the Midshipmen received one. Bucknell, who also finished 2006 with a league record of 13-7, was tabbed fourth with 30 points and one first place vote. Holy Cross rounded out the poll with 12 points.
Last season, Lehigh shared the regular season title with Bucknell as both teams had the best record in the league. Lehigh earned hosting rights of the 2006 Patriot League Tournament due to having the better in-season series record between the two teams, winning three of the four games. The Mountain Hawks went on to capture their first-ever Patriot League Tournament Championship by beating Bucknell twice and earned a berth in the NCAA Tournament.
