BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The 2006 Patriot League champion Lehigh baseball team will not have to wait until the NCAA Regionals in June to return to the diamond after all. Head coach Sean Leary has announced that his team will meet Ivy League champion Princeton in a home-and-home two-game series on May 27-28. The Mountain Hawks and Tigers will meet at Clarke Field in Princeton, N.J. on Saturday, May 27 at 2:00 pm. The following day, the two teams will play a nine-inning game at the baseball field on Lehigh’s Goodman Campus at 1:00 pm.
Princeton captured the Ivy League crown on May 6 to become the first team to qualify for the NCAA Tournament. A week later, Lehigh won its first-ever Patriot League tournament crown to earn the right to appear in the Regional Tournament, which begins June 2.
Lehigh and Princeton have not met on the baseball diamond since 1998, a 9-7 Tigers win in New Jersey. Princeton has dominated the all-time series, which dates back to 1890, winning 39 of the 44 meetings between the two schools.
