Mack homers as Lehigh splits with Holy Cross

Worcester, MA – Lehigh and Holy Cross split a Patriot League doubleheader Saturday afternoon, falling in game 4-3, and winning in game two 3-1. With the split, Lehigh moves to 15-18 overall, 5-8 in the Patriot League, while Holy Cross moves to 9-18 overall, 5-9 in the league.
In game one John Zaszewski went 2-for-4 at the plate, with a run scored, while Jesse Novalis added a hit, a run scored, and two RBI. Also managing hits for Lehigh was Jeremy Mack, Jeff Quiros, Jeff Baker, Brian Cameron, and Dan Russell.
Jack Mascalus took the loss for Lehigh, falling to 4-3 on the season. Mascalus went the distance, but allowed seven hits, four runs, three of which were earned, while striking out four Holy Cross batters.
For the Crusaders, Dan Powers notched his first win of the season, pitching 1.1 innings out of the bullpen. Nick Hanges earned his second save of the year by getting the final out of the contest.
At the plate for the Crusaders, Matt McEvoy posted two hits, scored a run, and drove a run in, while Bill Andruskevich knocked in two runs,

The Mountain Hawks bounced back to take the nightcap, defeating the Crusaders 3-1. Lehigh picked up all the offense it would need in the first inning as the squad plated three runs.
Jesse Novalis went 2-for-3 at the plate, with an RBI, and a run scored, while Jeremy Mack drove in Lehigh’s other two runs.
Adam Marr picked up the win to move to 3-2 on the season, with Matt Nusinov earning his first save of the season.
Erik Kistler and Mike Schell picked up a pair of hits for the Crusaders, while Jimmy McCloud drove in the lone Holy Cross run. John Dibble took the loss, falling to 2-5 on the season.
Lehigh and Holy Cross return to action Sunday in another Patriot League doubleheader. Game time is 12:00 p.m.
