Mountain Hawks host Army in league showdown

Lehigh and Army meet in a four-game series at Goodman Field. The Mountain Hawks are in search of their first league win, while the Black Knights are 1-3 in Patriot League play.
On Thursday, the Mountain Hawks pounded out 15 hits in a win over La Salle, including four from first baseman Forrest Doane. Jeff Baker ripped three hits – including two doubles – for Lehigh. Center fielder Jeremy Mack belted a solo homer to straightaway center field. Sophomore Karl Weimer hurled five innings to pick up his first victory of the season.
Army heads to Bethlehem following a 5-0 shutout win over Quinnipiac on Thursday afternoon. Three Black Knights combined on the shutout, and both Josh Holden and Schuyler Williamson homered in the win.
In league play, Lehigh dropped three games at Lafayette, while the Black Knights went 1-3 in a four game set at home against Navy.
Junior Eric Hoffman leads Lehigh with a .432 batting average, while classmate Jesse Novalis paces the Mountain Hawks with four homers. Holden is hitting .314 to lead Army.
First pitch of Saturday’s doubleheader is scheduled for noon from Lehigh’s Goodman Field.
