Annapolis, MD – Lehigh advanced to the Championship round of the Patriot League Tournament with a 12-6 win over Lafayette (23-22) in the elimination game at Max Bishop Stadium on the campus of Navy.
Lehigh (29-19-1) used a ten run first inning to set the tone for the game and senior Patriot League Pitcher of the Year Dave Cerminaro picked up his ninth win of the season pitching a complete game on the mound for the Mountain Hawks. Cerminaro allowed two runs in the top of the first but cruised through the next seven innings before allowing four meaningless runs in the bottom of the ninth. Cerminaro allowed three earned runs on the day, walking three and striking out three.
Sophomore Eric Hoffman went 3-for-6 on the day including three singles in the first two innings. Hoffman knocked in three and scored a pair in addition to making some great plays at second place. Junior Jeremy Mack went 2-for-4 with a pair of runs batted in.
Lehigh will take on Navy in a three game series for the Patriot League Championship and the League’s automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament. Game one of the season begins at 3:40 on Saturday with the next two games scheduled for Sunday afternoon with the first beginning at 12:00. All three games are nine inning games and can be heard live on the Lehigh website.
