Bethlehem, PA – After a week in which he hit .667 (16-for-24), drove in 16 runs, and scored 11 more, third baseman Jesse Novalis has earned yet another honor. The sophomore has garnered recognition as the national co-Hitter of the Week, along with Stanford’s Jason Cooper, as voted on by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA). This distinction comes on the heels of an announcement earlier this week that Novalis was the Patriot League Player of the Week.
In six games last week, Novalis ripped 16 hits and drove in an astounding 16 runs as the Mountain Hawks went 5-1. He currently leads the Patriot League in home runs with nine, one short of tying a single-season Lehigh record. His .365 batting average currently ranks second on the team.
Lehigh is 20-14-1 overall, just three victories away from tying a school record for most wins in a season. The Mountain Hawks are 5-3 in the Patriot League, and are set to resume league play on Saturday, when Lehigh battles Holy Cross in a doubleheader at Goodman Field beginning at Noon. Lehigh is a perfect 4-0 at home this season.
