Miami, FL – The Mountain Hawks were held to just three hits and were unable to dent the scoreboard in a 7-0 loss to Florida International on Wednesday night. The loss drops Lehigh to 4-2-1 on the season, while the victory improves the Golden Panthers’ record to 12-4. Tuesday’s contest marked the first time this season that Lehigh failed to produce any runs.
Lehigh had singles from Eric Hoffman, Jeremy Mack, and pinch hitter Donald Fanelli. FIU meanwhile smacked three home runs on the night. Lehigh left eight runners on base. Jeff Pietrak started on the mound for Lehigh, and was saddled with the loss (0-1) despite pitching well over seven innings.
The schedule doesn’t get any easier for Lehigh, as the Mountain Hawks take on Boston College of the Big East on Wednesday night in the Homestead Challenge. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00.
