Homestead, FL – Lehigh pitcher Dave Cerminaro hurled a complete game, three-hit shutout as the Mountain Hawks blanked C.W. Post by a 6-0 score in the first day of action on Lehigh’s spring break trip. The win improves Lehigh’s record to 3-0 on the season, while Cerminaro improves his mark to 2-0.
The Mountain Hawks got on the board in the second inning when outfielder Jeremy Mack smacked a solo homerun, his first of the season. Jeff Pietrak added a two-run single in the fourth for Lehigh, who scored three times in the frame. The Mountain Hawks added a run in the sixth and another run in the seventh to secure the win. Pietrak had two hits on the day, as did Jeff Baker and Eric Hoffman.
Meanwhile, Cerminaro was masterful on the mound. He pitched the complete game, striking out ten Post hitters and not walking a batter. Cerminaro has now pitched 13 innings on the young season without allowing a walk or a run.
Lehigh returns to action on Sunday evening, when the Mountain Hawks battle the University of Pittsburgh. Game time is scheduled for 5:30.
