Lehigh Falls Twice to Holy Cross

Worcester, MA – Lehigh (14-24, 6-12) took on the College of the Holy Cross (17-19, 9-9) today in a Patriot League doubleheader, and dropped both games by scores of 7-3 and 8-1, respectively. In the first game, Lehigh jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning off of an RBI single from senior Pat Hollander. But Holy Cross responded by scoring three that inning and adding one more in the following inning to take a 4-1 lead into the third inning. The Mountain Hawks added a run in the third and fifth innings both as a result of RBI doubles from freshman Jesse Novalis. Novalis finished the day 2-for-4 with two RBI’s. However, that would not be enough as Holy Cross went on to put up three more runs in the bottom of the fifth. Junior Dave Cerminaro () suffered the loss for the Mountain Hawks as he went the distance and struck out two. Other big hitters for Lehigh were junior Jeff Pietrak who went 2-for-2 with two walks and three runs scored, and junior Chad Thoman who hit 2-for-3 with a double.
In the nightcap Lehigh was scoreless through five innings as Holy Cross managed to put up six runs. The Mountain Hawks’ only run came off of a bases loaded walk in the sixth inning by senior Rob Moran that scored Hollander. Holy Cross added two more in that inning to seal the victory. In the game Thoman and freshman Eric Hoffman each had a double. Junior Brian Andalman (), who pitched five innings and struck out three, received the loss for Lehigh.
These two teams meet up again tomorrow in another doubleheader that will begin at noon.
