Mountain Hawks look for first win at UMES

“I would be concerned about them if they were all freshmen,” Lehigh head coach Sean Leary said of his team’s attitude after Southern Miss. “I met will all our veteran pitchers individually, and every one of them had the right attitude after the weekend. We’re not worried.”
The Mountain Hawks have fared well against the Hawks in school history, winning 14 of the 16 meetings all time. Lehigh’s last loss was in 2007, when
Lehigh will need to get a strong performance out of their ace pitcher Greg Angelo in game one, after the lefty was hit with seven runs in 1.2 innings on opening day at Southern Miss. Angelo will take the hill again on Wednesday at noon. Despite the rough first outing, Leary said he has no fears about sending Angelo back out on the mound.
“He’s our ace, and when he’s ready, he needs to take the ball,” Leary said. “He needs to make some adjustments, but when he’s ready, he throws.”

“We want to focus on our game,” Leary said. “We need to do the things we do well, which is getting on base more and attacking the strike zone.”
First pitch for the doubleheader at Hawk Stadium is scheduled for noon on Wednesday.
