Lehigh welcomes Holy Cross for four games

Russell’s brother, freshman Andy Russell, helped him out at the plate, going a perfect four-for-four and scored Lehigh’s second run of the game. Kevin Mihalik came into pitch the final three innings and picked up his first career save.
Offensively, the Mountain Hawks have been playing solid fundamental baseball all season, and are ranked 34th in the country with 18 sacrifice bunts. They are also 44th in the nation with 35 stolen bases, led by Joe Ercolano, who is ranked 16th in Division I with 13 steals.
Lehigh’s pitching is also among the best in the country, as Greg Angelo is ranked 19th in Division I, allowing just 5.18 hits per nine innings. Joe Matteo and Rob Russell are just two off the national lead in wins, with three a piece.

So far this season, Akashian has a team high 13 RBI and is tied for the team lead with two homeruns. Junior Jake Gorman leads the team with a .327 average and a .551 slugging percentage.
These teams have met 69 times, with Lehigh holding a 36-33 advantage, including 33-29 in Patriot League competition. Holy Cross has taken seven of the last eight meetings, with Lehigh’s only win during that stretch coming in 2006, a 9-8 decision on the Goodman Campus.
The teams play doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday, with the first game on both days beginning at noon.
