BETHELHEM, Pa. – Seniors Inneke Carmola and Kelsy Ferris and junior Lauren Dykstra were named tri-captains of the 2010 Lehigh women’s lacrosse team, head coach Jill Redfern announced. “These three players are loved and respected by their teammates,” Redfern said. “Our team has chosen individuals who represent our entire squad. The coaching staff is solidly behind them. We are proud of the outstanding qualities they demonstrate on behalf of our student-athletes.”
Carmola has been a starting member of the Mountain Hawks since her freshman year. She currently ranks among active lacrosse players in the nation in goals and assists with 115 and 51, respectively. Following the 2009 season, Carmola was an All-Patriot League First-Team selection, while during her junior season Carmola led the Mountain Hawks and ranked fourth in the league in assists. As a sophomore, Carmola was an All-Patriot League Second-Team Selection and a two time Patriot League Offensive Player of the week. She scored 42 goals and added 20 assists throughout that season.
Carmola’s rookie season was just as impressive: she was named to the 2006 All-League First-Team and received both the John S. Steckbeck award and the 2006 Patriot League Rookie of the Year award. She was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week three times throughout the season and led the entire team in goals with 46. Carmola was also named to the Patriot League Academic Honor roll during her junior year and is a member of the C.O.A.C.H. program, Leadership Lehigh and both the MERGE mentor program and the SAM Program.
Goalkeeper Kelsy Ferris ranks in the top-ten in Patriot League history with 474 saves. Ferris has started 51 games for the Mountain Hawks and was named to the Second-Team All-Patriot League twice in her career. Last season against Saint Josephs, Ferris posted a season best 14 saves which contributed to her 121 stops on the season. As a sophomore, Ferris made a total of 172 saves over the course of the season and she finished tenth in the nation in total saves and third in the Patriot League in save percentage and saves per game.
Ferris’ career high came in the 2008 season with 18 saves versus Canisius. Ferris was named the Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week two separate times during her rookie season and led the team with a save percentage of .499. Ferris was named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll as a sophomore and serves as a member of the C.O.A.C.H. program.
Dykstra has started every game for the Mountain Hawks since her rookie season. During the 2009 season Dykstra was a First-Team All-Mid-Atlantic Region selection in addition to being the 2009 Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year and a First-Team All-Patriot League selection. She was also Patriot League Offensive Player of the week four times throughout the year. Dykstra ranked among the nation’s leaders in 2009 with 67 goals and a total of 75 points, and she led the country with 82 ground balls.
As a rookie, Dykstra was the 2008 Patriot League Rookie of the Year, a First Team All-Patriot League selection and a Patriot League All-Tournament Team selection. With her five honors, Dykstra is tied for the most ever Patriot League Rookie of the Week selections in a single season.
The Mountain Hawks, led by Carmola, Ferris and Dykstra, begin play on February 20, 2010 versus Mount St. Mary’s at the Ulrich Sports Complex.
