Fudin '09 and Carmola honored for academic work

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Inneke Carmola and Sarah Fudin ’09 were two of 442 student-athletes recognized by the IWLCA (Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association) for their academic excellence. 162 institutions had student-athletes recognized and all of the student-athletes on the list have attained at least junior standing academically. Nominees considered had a GPA of at least 3.5 or were in the top 10-percent of their squad.
A 2009 Lehigh graduate Sarah Fudin maintained a 3.62 grade point average as a marketing major. Fudin was a three-time All-Patriot League selection and served as captain of the Mountain Hawks women’s lacrosse program during her senior year. Fudin was regarded as one of the top defenders in all of the Patriot League and she made multiple appearances on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
Carmola carries a 3.30 GPA as a biology major, and like Fudin she has made multiple appearances on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll. The 2007 Patriot League Rookie of the Year, Carmola is a three-time All-League selection and she enters her senior season ranked among the nation’s leaders in goals and points. Carmola will serve as one of three captains for the Brown and White this season.
The Lehigh women’s lacrosse program consistently ranks among the Athletics Department’s top programs in terms of academic achievement. During the fall of 2008 the team posted a 3.22 team GPA, while during the spring 2009 term the team recorded a grade point average of 3.19.
