BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh women’s lacrosse coach Jill Redfern has announced the 2010 schedule which includes seven away games and nine contests to be played at the Ulrich Sports Complex on the Goodman Campus. The schedule also includes play against two teams that appeared in the 2009 NCAA tournament.

The Mountain Hawks kick off their season at home against Mount St. Mary’s on February 20. Last year, the Mountain Hawks had an 11-10 advantage in the matchup. Overall, the Mountain Hawks lead the series 3-2. The season continues the following Saturday in Newark, Del. against the University of Delaware. The Brown and White has not faced the Blue Hens since 1997 and in 27 contests, Lehigh has won only six times. The Blue Hens made it to the finals of the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament in 2009.

Lehigh continues on its road trip with a March 6 game vs. the Hawks of Saint Joseph’s. The Hawks and Mountain Hawks have met each year since 1994 and the Brown and White has posted an impressive 11 victories to the Hawks’ five, including a 15-11 win last season.

Three days later, on Tuesday March 9, the Mountain Hawks return to the Ulrich Sports Complex to take on Le Moyne in what will be the teams’ first ever contest.

The Brown and White will then face its first Patriot League opponent of the season when it travels to Bucknell on March 12.  On March 16, Lehigh will face another opponent away from home in Fairfield.  The Mountain Hawks have lost only twice to the Stags.

The Brown and White return home for another Patriot League matchup on March 20 versus archrival Lafayette, in what is sure to be a heated contest. Lehigh has won the last three games, including a 14-7 victory last year in Easton.

On March 23, the Mountain Hawks will take on UC Davis at home for the first time since an 11-10 victory in 2007. On Saturday, March 27, Lehigh will travel to Washington, D.C. to take on the Eagles of American University in another fierce Patriot League matchup. The Mountain Hawks won last year’s matchup handily by a 21-7 score.

Lehigh will return home on March 30 to face the first of three non-Patriot League opponents beginning with Marist on March 30.  On April 3, Lehigh will travel to Buffalo to take on Canisius for only the second time – the first coming in 2008.  Finally, Lehigh will face Penn State on April 7 back at home.
