BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Carrying a three-game win streak, Lehigh (8-5 overall, 3-1 PL) heads to New York on Saturday afternoon as the Mountain Hawks take on the Colgate Raiders, who currently sit atop the Patriot League standings with a perfect 4-0 record, in a game with huge postseason implications.  The Mountain Hawks can sew up a berth in the upcoming league tournament with a victory and move into a first-place tie with a win.  It won’t be easy though, as Lehigh has not won in Hamilton since earning a 15-8 victory in 1996.

Lehigh downed Marist last time out, 17-7 on April 8 at home.  The Mountain Hawks raced out to a 12-3 lead in that one and never looked back.  Freshman Lauren Dykstra and junior Sara MacIntyre netted four goals apiece, while freshman Allison Thomas found the back of the net three times.

Dykstra, who has scored a league leading 51 goals this season, broke MacIntyre’s Lehigh freshman record for goals scored with her 48th versus Marist.  Dykstra is now tied for the fifth most goals scored in program history in a single season, along with current head coach Liz Brode Ota ’95 and Karyn Yost.

MacIntyre has netted 33 goals this season, giving her 115 for her career, while sophomore Inneke Carmola has found the back of the net 30 times to along with 15 assists.  Other Mountain Hawks to reach double figures in goals are Thomas (20), Meagan Tenety (18) and Christy Smith (18).  As a team, Lehigh’s 14.4 goals per game ranks second in the league to only Navy.

On defense, Lehigh is second in the league in goals against average, surrendering 10.9 per game.  The Mountain Hawks lead the country in ground balls per game at 28.3, led by Dykstra’s 37.  Juniors Sarah Fudin and MacIntyre have both scooped up 34 GBs, while Christy Smith and Tess McGrath have both totaled 33.

The combination of Fudin, senior Seana Smith and sophomores Jen Ingalls and Carolyn Von Heil have combined for 39 caused turnovers, led by Fudin and Ingalls with 13 apiece.  In goal for the Brown and White, sophomore Kelsy Ferris has stopped 142 shots and posted a save percentage of .504.  Ferris ranks second in the league in save percentage and third in saves per game (10.9).  Ferris has stopped ten or more shots on eight occasions this season, including six of the last seven games.

Colgate (6-7 overall, 4-0 PL) enters this weekend having won four of its last five games, including a 14-12 win over Bucknell last weekend in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.  The Raiders are led on offense by Brie Moran who has scored 31 goals this season.  Jess Van der Meulen (22 goals), Meghan Lawler (21 goals) and Ashley Didio (20) have also scored 20 or more goals, while Colleen Bubnack is the team leader in assists with ten.

Colgate currently leads the Patriot League in caused turnovers at 9.7 per game.  Five different Raiders have caused at least ten turnovers this season, led by Maddie Kearns’ 19.  Sara Drexler is the team’s starting goal keeper having logged 697 minutes in between the pipes.  Drexler has sent back 86 shots this season and compiled a .361 save percentage.

Saturday’s game marks the 25th meeting all-time between these schools in women’s lacrosse with the Raiders holding a 15-9 advantage.  Lehigh won last year’s matchup 16-14 at home, marking the Mountain Hawks first win in the series since 1997.

Lehigh and Colgate are scheduled to get things underway at noon from Hamilton on Saturday.
