Dykstra honored for fourth time by Patriot League

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – For the fourth time this season freshman Lauren Dykstra has been named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week, it was announced on Monday. In two games last week, the first year standout scored nine goals and handed out two assists to go along with ten ground balls and seven draw controls. Dykstra currently leads Lehigh and the entire Patriot League with 39 goals.

Two days later, Dykstra netted two more scores versus Canisius, on a day in which she was continually harassed by the Golden Griffins defense. Dykstra also scooped up a career-high eight ground balls and won a career-best four draw controls in that game.
For the season, Dykstra has scored three or more goals in eight of Lehigh’s ten games. She has handed out ten assists, scooped up 26 ground balls and won 17 draw controls. With 39 goals thus far, Dykstra is only eight goals away from tying teammate Sara MacIntyre’s freshman record of 47 goals scored, which she did in 2006.
Dykstra and the Mountain Hawks return to action on Saturday afternoon when they play host to Holy Cross in a pivotal Patriot League showdown. Game time from the Ulrich Sports Complex is set for noon and complete audio and video coverage will be available on Lehighsports.com.
