Lehigh rips past St. Francis (Pa.) 23-3 in Florida

Lehigh out shot the Red Flash by a 38-5 count on Sunday, led by Christy Smith’s six and Carmola’s five. Freshman Dylan Procida scooped up a team-high five ground balls for the Mountain Hawks, while three other Lehigh players totaled four apiece. Lehigh registered 43 ground balls as a team and won 22 draw controls led by Brooke Wiener’s four.
Dykstra started the scoring for Lehigh at the 28:19 mark of the first half when she scored on a free position shot. Christy Smith scored 18 seconds later to make it a 2-0 Lehigh lead and junior Tess McGrath got on the scoreboard when she netted a goal off a feed from classmate Meagan Tenety with 26:42 remaining in the half. Dykstra scored her second goal of the day one minute later and Carmola got into the scoring act 13 seconds after that to put the Brown and White in front 5-0.
Freshman Lauren Donatelli scored her first collegiate goal at the 21:44 mark and following two goals from MacIntyre and another from Dykstra, Lehigh was in front 9-0 with 20:51 left on the clock. Tenety scored her first goal of the game and freshman Kindall Healy netted back-to-back scores to make it a 12-0 game at the 19:49 mark.
Jenn Cochran, Wiener and Procida would all add goals to make the score 15-0 before St. Francis finally got on the scoreboard when Meg Lamarche scored with 22 ticks remaining in the half.
In the second half Lehigh continued to dominate, with MacIntyre and Carmola combining for the first three scores. Dykstra then scored her final goal of the day at the 23:40 mark of the second, which made the score 19-1. Carolyn Von Heil scored her first goal of the season with 21:45 left on the clock and after Allison Thomas’ score with 12:12 to go, Lehigh was in front 21-1.
