BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh was honored with three of the Patriot League’s four weekly awards on Tuesday as senior Vienna Pharaon was named the Offensive Player of the Week, freshman Kelsy Ferris garnered Goal Keeper of the Week accolades, and freshman Inneke Carmola was honored as the Rookie of the Week. This is the first weekly award of the season for Pharaon and Ferris, while Carmola collects her third honor, the most of any freshman in the Patriot League.
Pharaon totaled nine points in Lehigh’s three games last week as the New Jersey native scored three goals and handed out six assists. In the Mountain Hawks 11-10 victory over UC-Davis on March 26, Pharaon handed out three assists and scooped up three ground balls, while on March 30 against archrival Lafayette, the senior captain netted a season-best three goals and handed out two helpers. In Lehigh’s match up with Oregon on March 31, Pharaon handed out yet another assist. On the season she leads the Mountain Hawks with 18 assists, to go along with five goals and nine ground balls. Pharaon has handed out at least two assists five times this season, including in four of Lehigh’s last five games.
Ferris continues to impress in her first season wearing the Brown and White. The native of Severna Park, Maryland sent back nine shots versus UC-Davis and then another six against Lafayette. Ferris boasted a save percentage of .600 versus the Leopards and she totaled 12 saves against Oregon, marking her sixth game of double digit saves. On the season, Ferris has sent back 108 shots and posted a save percentage of .500, while starting every game for the Mountain Hawks along the way.
Carmola has emerged as one of Lehigh’s most potent offensive performers this season, having netted four or more goals on three separate occasions thus far. Last week, Carmola scored 11 points, which included ten goals. She began the week with a four-goal performance against UC-Davis, and then added two scores and an assist in the victory over the Leopards. Against Oregon, Carmola again scored four goals, and she also scooped up two ground balls. On the year, Carmola has scored a team-best 24 goals and totaled 29 points.
Also on Tuesday, sophomore Sara MacIntyre received an honorable mention accolade from the league, after scoring seven goals and handing out two assists in two games for Lehigh last week. MacIntyre did not play versus Oregon.
Lehigh returns to action on Friday evening when the Mountain Hawks host Colgate in a pivotal Patriot League showdown. Both teams enter the game with identical 1-1 records in league play.
