BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Freshman Kelsy Ferris was named the Patriot League Goal Keeper of the Week on Tuesday, the second time this season she has earned this award. Ferris stopped 25 shots and posted a save percentage of .514 in two games for the Mountain Hawks last week, which included a 16-save performance in an overtime victory against American on April 21. Also on Tuesday, freshman Inneke Carmola garnered an honorable mention accolade from the league.
Ferris has started every game for Lehigh this season recording 162 saves in 819 minutes of action, while posting a save percentage of .502. Ferris has stopped double digit shots on eight separate occasions this season, and has been credited with all seven of the Mountain Hawks victories. On April 18, the first-year keeper sent back nine shots versus Columbia and scooped up two ground balls, while in the game with American, she stopped several tough shots in the closing minutes of regulation and overtime, to lift Lehigh to its first win over the Eagles since 1994.
Carmola scored seven goals in two games for Lehigh last week, netting four versus Columbia and three against American. The three-time Patriot League Rookie of the Week leads the Mountain Hawks with 42 goals and 48 points this season, and sits just five goals shy of tying the all-time goals scored mark for a freshman. Carmola has scored three or more goals eight times this season, recording at least point in every game.
Lehigh and its award winners return to the field on Tuesday evening when the Mountain Hawks host St. Joe's on Senior Day in the 2007 regular season finale at the Ulrich Sports Complex. Game time is set for 6:30. On Friday the Mountain Hawks travel to Worcester, Massachusetts for the 2007 Patriot League Tournament. Lehigh, seeded second, will take on the number-three seed American at 4:00. The winner of that game will meet the winner of the other semi-final, which pits top-seeded Holy Cross against fourth-seeded Colgate, on Sunday at 1:00 in Worcester for the Patriot League Championship.
