Lehigh was last in action on Tuesday night when the Mountain Hawks rode a 6-1 start to a 10-8 victory over Villanova on the road. Junior Christy Smith led the way for the Brown and White with four goals and one assist, while two-time defending Patriot League Rookie of the Week Inneke Carmola found the back of the net three times and sophomore Tess McGrath scored twice. That win followed a 16-14 league victory over Colgate on April 6, the program’s first win over the Raiders since 1997. Carmola scored seven goals in that game, while sophomore Sara MacIntyre added three scores and one assist.
Carmola has scored 34 goals this season, 13 shy of the all-time record for a freshman at Lehigh, which MacIntyre set last season. Carmola’s 39 points lead the Mountain Hawks, while MacIntyre has added 26 goals and six assists. Junior Christy Smith (14 goals, 11 assists) and seniors Lissy King (14 goals) and Vienna Pharaon (21 assists) team with Carmola and MacIntyre to give the Lehigh offense a potent punch.
The Mountain Hawks defense is led by junior Seana Smith (21 ground balls, 7 caused turnovers), sophomores Kyle Roth (24 ground balls, 13 draw controls) and Sarah Fudin (22 ground balls, nine caused turnovers) and freshmen Jen Ingalls (21 ground balls, 11 caused turnovers) and Carolyn Von Heil (nine ground balls, four draw controls). In goal, freshman Kelsy Ferris has sent back 131 shots in over 640 minutes of action, while posting a .506 save percentage. Ferris ranks third in the Patriot League in both saves and save percentage.
Holy Cross downed
Lehigh will be looking to snap a three-game losing streak versus Holy Cross and to defeat the Crusaders in Massachusetts for the first time since earning an 8-7 victory in 1997. The Mountain Hawks lead the all-time series 10-5, but have dropped three straight and four of the last six.
Saturday’s game is scheduled to begin at 12:00 from Hart Field. The Crusaders won last year’s showdown between the teams 10-4 in
