BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After earning its first win over Colgate since 1997 last week, four Mountain Hawks were honored for their work on Tuesday by the Patriot League.  Freshmen Jen Ingalls and Inneke Carmola were named the Defensive Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, while sophomore Sara MacIntyre and junior Christy Smith both garnered honorable mention accolades.  For Ingalls, this is her first award of the season, while Carmola has now won four awards, including two straight.

Ingalls earns her first collegiate award after scooping up four ground balls, causing two turnovers and winning one draw control versus the Raiders.  The New Jersey native has started all 11 games this season for the Brown and White, recording one assist along the way, which came in a victory over Fairfield.  Ingalls has scooped up 20 ground balls and leads the Mountain Hawks in caused turnovers with 11.

With a career-high seven goal performance in the win last week, Carmola has now found the back of the net 31 times this season, which leads the Mountain Hawks.  The New York native scored the game-winner against the Raiders, and added a pair of both ground balls and draw controls.  For the season, Carmola leads all Patriot League freshmen in goals, points, game-winning goals, and free position goals.  She has scored four or more goals four times this season, and has recorded at least one point in every game.

MacIntyre returned to the Lehigh lineup versus Colgate following an injury and picked up right where she left off, scoring three times and handing out an assist.  MacIntyre was one-of-two on free position shots and also added one ground ball.  MacIntyre has scored at least one point in every game she has played at Lehigh (26), which is currently tied for the 15th longest streak in America.  On the season, MacIntyre has scored 25 goals and totaled 31 points.

With just 31 seconds remaining, Smith secured Lehigh’s victory over the Raiders, as she eluded several defenders and raced her way to the goal, finishing off the play with goal number-ten on the season.  Smith scored twice against Colgate and also dished out one assist.  The engineering major scooped up seven ground balls and won three draw controls as well.

Lehigh returns to action on Tuesday evening when the Mountain Hawks travel to take on Villanova.  Game time is set for 8:00 PM as Lehigh looks to even its record on the season.
