Carmola named Rookie of the Week; four honored

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Following its 9-7 season opening victory over Central Connecticut State on Saturday, Lehigh was rewarded for its play, with four players honored by the Patriot League on Tuesday.  Freshman Inneke Carmola was named the Rookie of the Week, while senior Amy Chamberlain, sophomore Sara MacIntyre and freshman Kelsy Ferris all garnered honorable mentions. 

 

Carmola scored three goals, including the game-winner versus the Blue Devils.  She had five shots on the day as well.  Chamberlain netted three goals and handed out one assist versus the Blue Devils, while Ferris recorded 11 saves and a save percentage of 57.8, as she helped lead the Mountain Hawks to victory in her first-ever collegiate contest.  MacIntyre led the Mountain Hawks with 11 shots, two of which found the back of the net.  The Pennsylvania native also handed out one assist, scooped up two ground balls and caused one turnover.

 

Lehigh returns to action on Wednesday when the Mountain Hawks travel to Long Island to take on the Seawolves of Stony Brook.  Game time is set for 3:00.
