BETHLEHEM, Pa. – 2007 Patriot League Coach of the Year Liz Ota has announced the 2008 women’s lacrosse schedule, which includes nine home games and games against two teams that participated in last year’s NCAA tournament.  Lehigh is coming off a 2007 season in which the Mountain Hawks won their most games since 2003, defeated two teams (American, Colgate) for the first time in ten years, and earned the number-two seed in the Patriot League Tournament.

The Mountain Hawks kick off the season at home on February 16 against Mount Saint Mary’s in the first of five consecutive non-league contests.  The team then travels to Philadelphia to take on St. Joseph’s (February 18) in first road game of the year.  On February 24, the Brown and White returns home to face a Vanderbilt team that received an NCAA tournament berth in 2007, beating Lehigh 21-4 along on the way.

Next on the schedule are match ups on the road against LaSalle (February 28) and St. Francis (March 2) in the first ever contest between the two teams.  Lehigh returns home for three straight home games beginning with the Patriot League opener against rival Lafayette (March 8), looking to improve upon an 18-20 record all-time against the Leopards.

A matchup with Drexel (March 12) appear next, before the Mountain Hawks travel to Washington D.C. to battle American on March 16.  The team returns home for a game against Davidson (March 22), setting up a tough match up against two-time defending Patriot League champion Holy Cross (March 29).  The Crusaders earned an NCAA tournament slot last season and have beaten Lehigh in the last four contests.

Lehigh finishes the home stand against Navy (April 5) and Marist (April 8) before heading Colgate (April 12).  On April 15, Villanova comes to the Ulrich Sports Complex with an all-time record of 3-16 against Lehigh in the last home game of the season.

The regular season and Patriot League schedule conclude on April 18 at Bucknell, against a team that the Brown and White has beaten just once in the last eleven attempts.  The Patriot League Tournament is scheduled for April 25-27.
