BETHLEHEM, Pa. – With her five goal performance versus Lafayette on Saturday evening, freshman Sara MacIntyre set the all-time mark for most scores by a Lehigh freshman in history with 47 this season.  MacIntyre’s 47 goals break the mark previously set by Jill Altshuler (back in 1993) and Carla Juliani (in 1985).  Altshuler, who was a two-time All-American during her days at Lehigh, was in attendance on Saturday evening, as she witnessed MacIntyre making history.

MacIntyre, who is a three-time Patriot League Rookie of the Week selection, leads both the Patriot League and the Mountain Hawks in goals with those 47, and her 52 points ranks fifth in the league.  MacIntyre scored four or more goals on seven separate occasions this season, including a career-high seven in her first-ever collegiate game versus Fairfield earlier this year.  MacIntyre also netted seven goals in a 12-11 victory at St. Joe’s in mid-March.

The Pennsylvania native scored at least one goal in all of the Mountain Hawks games this season but two, and added 20 draw controls, 23 ground balls and four caused turnovers this year to go with her scoring prowess.

While at Lehigh, Altshuler was a three-time First Team All-League selection, a two-time All American, and she led the nation in scoring as a senior in 1996.  Altshuler holds the school records at Lehigh for single season goals (97 in 1996), single season points (119 in 1996), career goals (242) and career points (308).  Altshuler was also the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year in 1996, and the league rookie of the year in 1993.  She is the last Lehigh player to have won either of these two awards.
