CLEARWATER, Fla. – Lehigh ran its record to 5-2 on the 2006 season with a resounding 11-4 win over IPFW at Jack Russell Stadium on Sunday night.  Senior pitcher Joe Raniszewski threw three shutout innings for the Mountain Hawks in the win, and first baseman Matt McBride propelled the offense with another 4-for-4 effort at the dish.  His batting average now stands at a robust .538 on the season.

The Mastodons fall to 2-3 with the loss.

The Lehigh bats came out gunning, and the Mountain Hawks opened up an 11-0 lead before IPFW was able to dent the scoreboard.  Junior Nick Bet registered three hits, and he drove in three more runs on the night, upping his RBI total to ten in seven games.  Sophomore Joe Ercolano scored three times for Lehigh in the win.

Next up for the Mountain Hawks are tilts with Big Ten members Michigan State on Monday and Penn State on Tuesday, both in Clearwater.  The MSU game will take place at Jack Russell Stadium, while the showdown with the Nittany Lions will be held at Bright House Networks Field at 3:00 pm.
