CLEARWATER, Fla. – Lehigh scored six times and pounded out eleven hits but it wasn’t enough as Michigan State topped the Mountain Hawks by a 15-6 score at Jack Russell Stadium on Monday.   The victory was the Spartan’s second in three days over the Mountain Hawks, improving their record to 3-3 on the season.  Lehigh falls to 2-2 on its trip to Florida, and 5-3 overall.

Senior Andrew Smith saw time in both corners of the outfield, and he led the Lehigh offense with three hits, including his second double of the season.  Smith drove in a pair of runs, and Nick Bet scored twice for the Mountain Hawks.

Freshman Colin Sloand put forth a solid effort on the mound, throwing an inning and two-thirds of scoreless ball while recording a pair of strikeouts.

Lehigh returns to the diamond on Tuesday afternoon, when the Mountain Hawks take on Penn State.  First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 pm from Bright House Networks Field in Clearwater.
