CLEARWATER, Fla. – Penn State’s Aaron Markowitz threw a complete game shut out as the Nittany Lions blanked Lehigh by a 4-0 score at Bright House Networks Field on Tuesday afternoon.  The loss is Lehigh’s third of the year to a Big Ten school, leaving the Mountain Hawks with a 5-4 record on the season.  Penn State improves to 2-8 with the win.

Lehigh’s Jed Davitt allowed two earned runs over 5.1 innings pitched – his first earned runs allowed after eight prior innings of work this season – to take the loss, dropping his record to 1-1.  Joel Hockman pitched two scoreless innings for the Mountain Hawks on the hill.

Offensively, center fielder David Moscow and designated hitter Matt McBride accounted for four of Lehigh’s six hits in the game.  Both players registered a pair of hits, stretching their hitting streaks to three games each.  On Tuesday, all six Lehigh hits were singles.

Lehigh will take a day off Wednesday, before returning to action Thursday morning vs. Central Michigan.  First pitch is scheduled for 11:00 am from Jack Russell Stadium in Clearwater.
