Lehigh blanked by tough Rutgers squad

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh found itself matched up against a tough Rutgers squad on Thursday afternoon and the Scarlet Knights came away with a 7-0 win at the Lewis Tennis Center. The Mountain Hawks battled hard against Rutgers but were unable to win a match as they fall to 1-2 on the season. Rutgers improves to 2-1 with the victory.

The Scarlet Knights won the doubles point, taking all three matches. The trend continued in singles play where Rutgers won all six matches in straight sets. The closest match came at fourth singles, where freshman Allie Schwartz went to a first set tiebreaker with Ketevan Shmakova before losing 7-6 and then dropping the second game.

The Mountain Hawks will return to action on Saturday morning when they will host Fordham. The match gets underway at 11:00 am from the Lewis Tennis Center.
