Senior Kelsey Smith scored her second goal in as many games just 2:55 into the game off of an assist from classmate Moira Garrity, putting the home team in front 1-0. Garrity then added to the Mountain Hawks lead with a goal of her own on a penalty stroke with just four seconds remaining in the first half sending Lehigh into the break up 2-0.
The Lady Eagles came out of halftime strong, scoring two goals in a matter of just 3:31 to tie the game at two. Both goals were scored by Blair Wynne, her 17th and 18th of the season. The visitors then went in front 3-2 on a score by Sarah Huber at the 64:14 mark off of an assist from Megan Bullock. That score came as the result of a penalty corner. Cochran would tie the game for Lehigh though, as she gathered a loose ball and snuck it past Lady Eagle keeper Ali Harris with just under five minutes left in regulation.
The two teams then headed for the stroke off, where Lock Haven was perfect on all four of its attempts, and Lehigh made just two of its four attempts. Senior Steph Palmieri sent back 11 shots on the afternoon, while Harris was credited with two saves. Becca Yerkes started the game in cage for the visitors and sent back five Mountain Hawk shots. Lehigh was out shot 22-11 for the game and had just five penalty corners to Lock Haven’s nine.
“I’m really proud of how hard we played,” said head coach Julie Mazer after the game. “There were specific things we tried to do and for the most part we were able to do them. We had a lapse in the early part of the second half, but were able to fight through it.” She added, “In practice we work on our strokes because we know it could come up in a game, and tonight will help us if it were to come up in a league game.” She concluded, “We did some good things tonight that we can take into the Holy Cross game this weekend.”
