Bethlehem, PA – The Mountain Hawks returned to Patriot League play on Saturday splitting a doubleheader with Bucknell at Goodman Field. Lehigh overcame a four run deficit to win game one 7-6, but the Mountain Hawks were not as fortunate in game two, as Bucknell lit up the scoreboard with a 14-1 win. With the split Lehigh is now 14-12-1 on the season. Bucknell is 7-16 overall. Both teams are 3-3 in Patriot League games.

In game one Lehigh found itself down 6-2 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning. Freshman Joe Ercolano started the inning off with a walk. He later came around to score when Forrest Doane reached on an error. Matt Geiger then plated two more runs with a single to right field. Geiger came around to score the tying run on a single by Steve Salemme.  Bison reliever Jacob Moss then walked shortstop Liam O’Connor walked to load the bases with two out and then walked Ercolano to force home Nick Bet with the winning run.

Jack Muscalus got the start on the mound for Lehigh, allowing nine hits and five earned runs in five innings of work. Jed Davitt pitched a scoreless seventh inning and was credited with his first win. Offensively, Geiger finished the day 3-for-4 with two RBI while Matt McBride also collected three hits.

Lehigh could not maintain momentum in the nightcap as Bucknell roughed up starter Joe Matteo through five innings and showed little remorse against the Mountain Hawks bullpen. The Bison crushed three home runs, the key blow being a three run blast by Kyle Walter in the sixth. Bet drove in the only Lehigh run with a second inning sacrifice fly.

The Mountain Hawks and Bison will wrap up their four game series on Sunday with another doubleheader. Game one gets underway at noon from Goodman Field. Both games will be broadcast live on the Lehigh website at lehighsports.com with streaming provided by Yahoo! Sports.
