Mountain Hawks capture second straight league win

The Mountain Hawks earned the doubles point to get things started by virtue of winning two of the three matches on the afternoon. Lehigh’s tandem of Gwen Dwyer and Maria del Carmen Anorga won at No. 2 doubles, 8-1, and Ashley Donohue and Lindsay Long earned a win for the Mountain Hawks at No. 3 doubles by an 8-4 count.
Like they did on Saturday, the Mountain Hawks played really well at singles Sunday. Against Colgate Sunday, Lehigh won four of six flights to secure the team victory. Gwen Dwyer (top flight), Maria Anorga (third flight), Lindsay Long (fifth flight), and Cessa Murasko-Blank (sixth) were all victorious in straight sets for the Mountain Hawks. No. 2 Alexis Jacobi and No. 4 Starr Foster came up just short for Lehigh on the afternoon. Both matches were well-played in a losing effort.
Lehigh returns to the court on Tuesday afternoon, when the Mountain Hawks host Bucknell in a Patriot League contest. A Lehigh win will assure the Mountain Hawks of a spot in the upcoming Patriot League tournament. Weather permitting, the match will take place outdoors on the Ulrich Varsity Courts.
