Lehigh falls to IPFW in a rain-shortened affair Wednesday

IPFW center fielder Dustin Fremion led off the game with a triple, and he scored two batters later on a Tyler Fowler single. After another hit and an error, catcher Brent Doty singled home two more.
Trailing by four in its first at-bat, Lehigh put a two-spot on the board to slice the lead in half. First baseman Forrest Doane laced a single to center to score David Moscow, and right fielder Andrew Smith followed that up with a sac fly plating a run to make the score 4-2.
Lehigh added a run in the home half of the third when John Zaszewski scored on a wild pitch, but the Mountain Hawks could get no closer. Trailing 5-3 in the bottom of the fifth, Lehigh had the bases loaded and two outs, but third baseman Matt Geiger struck out looking on a 3-2 pitch for the final out of the inning, and of the game.
Karl Weimer (0-1) allowed three earned runs in two innings pitched in his first start of the season for the Mountain Hawks. IPFW’s Eric Lambert ran his record to 2-1 with a complete game. He scattered eight hits and allowed only one earned run in his five innings on the hill.
