Smith named Patriot League Rookie of the Week

Bethlehem, PA – Lehigh freshman Christy Smith has been named the Patriot League’s Rookie of the Week for her efforts in the Mountain Hawks two games last week versus Monmouth and St. Joe’s.  Smith scored four goals, handed out one assist and scooped up two groundballs for the Brown and White in its games last week and is currently second on the team with 15 goals.  The engineering major has tallied 16 points, one assist and scooped up nine groundballs thus far in 2005.  She also leads the team in draw controls with 12.

 

In the Mountain Hawks game at Monmouth, Smith scored one goal, and tallied one point.  In Lehigh’s contest with St. Joe’s Smith found the back of the net three times, assisted on another and registered four points, while also scooping up two ground balls.  Smith has scored at least one goal in all but one game this season for the Brown and White and her 2.29 points per game currently ranks ninth in all of the Patriot League.

 

Smith and Lehigh are back in action on Wednesday afternoon as the Mountain Hawks play host to Siena at the Ulrich Sports Complex.  Game time is scheduled for 4:00 and all of the action can be heard live on lehighsports.com.
