Four score in double figures as Lehigh tops Holy Cross

The Lehigh win, coupled with Colgate's loss at American on Sunday, means the Mountain Hawks have clinched a top two seed in the Patriot League's postseason tournament. The league's No. 1 and No. 2 seeds each have home court advantage in the first two rounds.
After Lehigh opened the game up with a 6-0 lead, it was the Crusaders who controlled the bulk of opening 20 minutes. The Mountain Hawks shot just 34 percent from the field in the first half while Holy Cross connected on 50 percent of its field goals to take a 36-26 lead into the break. Jessica DePalo led the Brown and White with eight points in the opening half while Mary Frances Hynoski chipped in six points and six boards.
Lehigh began to go to work on the deficit in the second half, taking a 46-45 lead with 11:45 to play. The lead would change hands several times before Jenny Callan converted a three point play to give the Mountain Hawks the lead for good with 4:55 to play. Crusaders coach Bill Gibbons picked up his second technical foul ten seconds later and the Mountain Hawks went on an 11-0 run to put the game away.
The Mountain Hawks placed four in double figures with DePalo leading the way with 20 points, including 10-of-11 from the free throw line. Jenny Callan chipped in with 17, Sara Ellis 14, and Mary Frances Hynoski posted another double-double tallying 10 points and 12 rebounds. The Mountain Hawks were strong from the free-throw line, converting on 29-of-40 attempts.
Holy Cross’ Lisa Andrews led all scorers with 21.
