Bethlehem, PA - Lehigh recently completed its fall season under first year head coach Liz Brode Ota and the Mountain Hawks made some serious strides and were also able to get a read on what they have heading into the spring season.  “The fall is good because it enables us to try out a whole lot of things and let’s us get a sense of what’s going to work when we get after it in the spring,” explains Brode Ota.  “We did very well versus the competition that we played against, I think we had some very evenly matched contests and we really progressed well throughout the entire fall.”

The Mountain Hawks combined a tough practice schedule with four competitions along the way during the fall season, which included a tournament at the University of Delaware, where the Brown and White squared off against George Washington, a national team from Japan and the host Blue Hens.  Lehigh then hosted a tournament of its own as the Mountain Hawks welcomed in LaSalle from Philadelphia and archrival Lafayette.  “At the beginning of the competitions, we were just starting to learn the system and trying to find out everything about our players,” Broda Ota explains.  “Then as we moved onto the second portion of our fall schedule, we began playing with more confidence and it showed on the field.”

This past weekend Lehigh hosted its annual Alumni Game, which was very successful and then the Mountain Hawks turned around and traveled to West Long Branch, New Jersey to play Monmouth.  “We play LaSalle, Lafayette and Monmouth in the spring, so it was good to match up against them now and see where we stand.  Overall it was a good fall and we are definitely headed in the right direction,” Brode Ota said.
