Easton, PA – Sophomore Jen Fleming scored a goal with just four seconds remaining in double overtime to lift Lehigh (9-2, 2-2 Patriot League) to a 10-9 victory over rival Lafayette (3-11, 2-3 Patriot League) on Tuesday evening.
Lehigh took an early 2-1 lead on goals by juniors Emily Studdiford and Meredith Carso before the Leopards closed the half with four straight goals to take a 5-2 lead into halftime. Lehigh came out firing in the second half, going on an 8-1 run behind pairs of goals from Studdiford and Carso to take a 9-6 lead with 6:43 remaining. Lafayette would get three goals in the final 4:39 to tie the scoreand send the game to overtime. Neither team could score in the extra time until Fleming beat Lafayette’s Tracey Williams with just four seconds to play in the second overtime.

"Our team played with a lot of determination," head coach Judy Baxter said. "They hustled and worked hard to fight back after falling behind. It was an exciting game and a great win."
The win marked the first win for Lehigh in the series since 1999. The game was the Mountain Hawks’ ninth win of the season, the most for the program since a 14-3 season in 1996. The victory also gave Lehigh a season best five straight wins.
