Bethlehem, PA – Lehigh junior Meredith Carso has been named the Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week. Carso is honored on the heels of a five goal performance in a 13-11 win over Villanova.
The junior attacker scored two of her goals as Lehigh fought back from and early 3-0 deficit to tie the score at 4-4. She then tacked on three more goals to lead Lehigh to its fourth straight victory.
On the season, Carso has 18 goals and four assists for 22 points. The 18 goals tie her for second on the team, while the 22 points rank third. She has stepped up her play in 2003 after scoring just 10 goals and 15 points in 2002.
"Meredith has been working very hard for us all season, so it’s nice to see her honored for her contributions to our success," said Lehigh head coach Judy Baxter. "As a midfielder, she has a very good vision of the field and a good sense of the game. She leads out there by her determination, and is a very important part of our offense."
Carso and her Mountain Hawk teammates will look to extend their winning streak to a season best five games when Lehigh travels to rival Lafayette on Tuesday. Game time is set for 7:00.
