West Long Branch, NJ – Lehigh won its second straight game by defeating Monmouth by a final score of 13-9 on Sunday afternoon. The win moves Lehigh to 6-2 on the season, including a perfect 2-0 on the road.
The Mountain Hawks would fall behind early, as Monmouth built a 4-1 lead in the game’s first ten minutes. Lehigh came back to take an 8-6 advantage into halftime, as both sophomore Kellan Van Hoesen and junior Emily Studdiford beat Monmouth keeper Emily Brugger twice. As a team, Lehigh was a perfect 3-3 on free position shots during the opening 30:00.

Freshman goalkeeper Kyle Begina made 14 saves in the win. Begina also stopped seven of Monmouth’s eight free position attempts. The Mountain Hawks also turned in eight assists as a unit.
"We were tested early, but we rose to meet the challenge," said head coach Judy Baxter. "We gained momentum in the second half and played very well in the midfield. We passed very well and played with a lot of confidence."
