Bethlehem, PA – Lehigh will look to continue its hot start today when St. Joseph’s visits the Ulrich Sports Complex. The Mountain Hawks are off to a 3-0 start under new head coach Judy Baxter.
Junior Emily Studdiford and sophomore Kellan Van Hoesen have powered the Lehigh assault. Studdiford leads the Mountain Hawks with 12 points and five assists. Her seven goals rank second on the squad to only Van Hoesen’s nine.
Lehigh has been strong on defense as well. Senior Rosie Sherry was named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week after causing 11 turnovers and picking up eight ground balls through the first three games of the week. In goal, freshman Kyle Begina has been outstanding, with the help of Sherry and the rest of the Lehigh defense. Begina is allowing just 4.67 goals against.
St. Joseph’s enters today’s contest with an 0-1 record after losing to Drexel 9-8. Earlier this season, Lehigh defeated the Dragons 8-4. In the St. Joe’s loss, the Hawks’ Kristen Teklinsky notched three goals and an assist, while Kelly Butler scored twice and helped on one other score. Courtney Huff took the loss in goal, making seven saves.
