Mountain Hawks set for season opener

Bethlehem, PA – Lehigh is set to open its season on Tuesday against Mt. St. Mary’s. The game was originally scheduled to be played on the Mountaineers home field, but after last weekend’s snow storm dumped several feet of snow onto both school’s fields, the turf at Lehigh’s Ulrich Sports Complex was decided to be the better venue.
The game will mark the Mountain Hawks first game during head coach Judy Baxter’s second run at Lehigh. Sophomores Sarah Corrigan and Barrie Cominsky are the Mountain Hawks’ two leading returning scorers. Cominsky was second on the team last season with 16 goals, while Corrigan scored 13 of her own. Junior goalkeeper Vanessa Abbott will look to build on a sophomore season in which she improved in every statistical category.
Senior Kelly Moran is the top scorer returning to Mt. St. Mary’s this season, after scoring 27 goals with nine assists for 36 points. The Mountaineers will need either junior Sara Rowan or freshman Mary Todd to step up as this season’s starting goalkeeper.
Game time is set for 4:00.
