A three-sport varsity athlete, Nancy Barrett Kreider achieved success on the playing field as well as in the classroom. Kreider played field hockey, basketball and lacrosse for the Engineers, was a member of the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa honors fraternity and graduated summa cum laude in 1979.

Named the most valuable player in field hockey and lacrosse as a senior, Kreider co-captained both teams as well. She led the field hockey team to a 10-0 record and lacrosse to a record of 8-2 during her final campaign. Kreider tallied 64 career lacrosse goals.

The winner of the John Steckbeck Award for Outstanding First-Year Female Athlete in 1976, Kreider earned both the Mary O. Hurley Award for sportsmanship and cooperation, and the Alumni Association's Undergraduate Merit Award during her senior year.

“I am honored to find myself in such fine company,” Kreider said. “It is a special privilege to be a part of women's athletics at Lehigh at a time when there was so much growth and development. I believe those years marked the beginning of a program that has become one of which we can all be proud and I'm thrilled to be part of this history.”

Kreider went on to coach youth sports in her hometown of Ambler, Pennsylvania and was previously employed by ICI America as a biomedical researcher. Nancy is married to fellow Hall of Famer, Steve Kreider ‘79. They are the parents of three daughters, Kathryn, Suzanne and Ashleigh, and one son, Zachary.
