Hissner Named Lehigh Volleyball Graduate Assistant Coach by McLaughlin

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Head coach Shawn McLaughlin has added Kyra Hissner to his coaching staff as a graduate assistant coach, he announced Thursday.Â
Hissner joins the Mountain Hawks after serving as a student assistant coach at Rowan University, where she was part of the 2025 NJAC Coaching Staff of the Year. During her time at Rowan, she assisted with daily training sessions, practice planning, match preparation and recruiting, while also helping implement the offensive system. Rowan finished the 2025 season with a 25-6 record and produced two All-American and All-Region honorees and five All-Conference selections.
"We are so excited to have Kyra join us," said McLaughlin. "She is a young coach who is hungry to learn and be great. Kyra will be handling logistics for the season as well as offensive management, and we're excited to have her bring her experience and energy to our program."Â
Hissner also brings collegiate playing experience to the Mountain Hawks. She competed at Rowan University after beginning her collegiate career at Johnson & Wales University, where she was part of back-to-back GNAC championship teams in 2021 and 2022.
Hissner earned her undergraduate degree in Health & Physical Education from Rowan University and was a three-time Dean's List honoree and member of Chi Alpha Sigma, the national student-athlete honor society.Â
Lehigh will open the 2026 season at home as the Mountain Hawks host the Steel Classic at Grace Hall. Lehigh will welcome Gardner-Webb Friday, Aug. 28, at 11 a.m., before facing Cleveland State at 6:30 p.m. The Mountain Hawks will close out the weekend Saturday, Aug. 29, at 4 p.m. against Morgan State.
